Eagles or chickens – A message about living from another level

Position affects perspective

Paul said in Colossians 3:1 ‘ If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.’

In Corinthians he also says that we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Jesus was able to shake off the dust if he wasn’t welcomed or people didn’t get him or when he was accused, it didn’t affect him or knock him off track or pollute His perspective and in matthew 10:14 when he sent the disciples out he said if you are not received or welcomed shake off the dust and choose to move We are more than conquerors.

The eaglet is born into a comfortable nest, and is provided for for a while, but then as time goes on and it grows bigger everything seems to work against it

– its twigs start digging in, they look huge and the world outside seems small peering through them, and as it grows its massive wings feel trapped, it realises its view of the world is limited, then its food stops being brought in for it.

But it is an intentional stirring up and its not a great experience.

It had got too big for its nest and was made for more!

Q. I wonder if you are feeling unsettled about anything? Perhaps God is allowing a nudging to make you look up to where your help and hope really comes from, beyond your current context.

So the eagle has a choice – does he stay in the nest and die or does look through and beyond, spread out his wings and fly and learn to feed himself. fighting those memory tugs of remembering the times when that nest still felt comfy

The truth is that God made you born to fly!

We are meant to look up, we are made to live from above. We are not overcome!

But some of us live like chickens!

We have a solely ground level, obstructed perspective; re playing over and over again the positions we are in (a bit like eating our own poo we re-live and replay our worries and i am not belittling them because i do that too). However as children of God we are meant to be rising above, soaring eagles as isaiah says in chapter 40 with a divine perspective not like chickens to live life at ground level with a limited view.

I pray that as you read this something happens in your Spirit that causes you to soar, to rise above, to lift you head and see from another perspective, a divine viewpoint. That God raises you to see life from His eternal perspective, that you shake off the dust and you feel safe within His wings. Amen!!!!
